VP Software Development (AnswerMan)
I wear a lot of hats at hal Systems. I manage all development of halFILE 4.1 and e.halFILE. I share network administration responsibilities for the Austin and Dallas Data Centers with Richard. My colleagues call me the AnswerMan because when you have that unsolvable problem it often gets bumped to me for a solution. I don’t get to meet or even talk to as many clients as I used to so often people are surprised to meet me at HUG but I may have had a lot more to do with your particular site’s support than you might think.
Hobbies / Interests:
Water-skiing, boating, music (all types from jazz to country), travel, Disney World, tech toys
Get to know me:
I have been lucky to be a part of the hal Systems family for 23 years. Tom offered me a job just after having accepted a job offer from Wal-Mart as a lube tech (tech jobs were scarce). While at times dysfunctional like any good family we seem to make it all work. My favorite T-shirt reads “I’m a Network Engineer – What’s your Super Power?” My next favorite T-shirt has a picture of Mickey Mouse. My wife and I will celebrate our 10th anniversary on October 20th just after the HUG 2017 conference and we credit the HUG conference for bringing us together.
We have recently relocated to the Lakway/Austin area. Our first grandchild will be 2 weeks old at the start of HUG 2017. “Poppi” and “Ebie” are very excited that baby Waylon is only 15 minutes away from us. Our daughter Danielle (proud new Mom) also works at hal Systems but will not be present this year at HUG so she can spend time with her baby boy. We have one daughter attending the University of North Texas and another that is a freshman at Lake Travis High School.
